55 m² SunSquare sun sail offering UV and rain protection. Mediterranean ambiance, intelligent control, and a holiday feeling at home.
Mediterranean living with a 55 m² SunSquare shade sail
Spanning the warm sandstone slabs of this exceptional terrace area, a 55 m² SunSquare sun sail creates a sheltered outdoor space with an unmistakable holiday flair. The harmonious combination of natural tones, palm trees, and an unobstructed view over the city down to the pool below evokes Mediterranean destinations, turning the garden into a place where you’ll want to spend every spare moment.
Before installing the sun sail, attempts were made to provide shade for the spacious terrace using two large parasols. However, this solution proved cumbersome and impractical. Particularly in stronger winds, the parasols offered only limited comfort, looked unsightly as part of the overall picture, and were unable to guarantee the desired quality of the outdoor space on a long-term basis. The before-and-after photographs impressively illustrate just how much the SunSquare sun sail enhances the space – both visually and functionally. What was once a terrace that could only be used in parts has been transformed into a spacious, fully sheltered outdoor living area.
The sun sail was custom-made from high-quality Sattler acrylic fabric 321–325 . The material provides excellent UV protection while also ensuring reliable protection against rain.
The system is supported by four ground posts. Two of the posts were anchored in the lawn area on custom-built concrete foundations to ensure maximum stability. A manual height adjustment has been integrated into both the F-post and the A-post. This allows the fabric shaft or the end of the sail to be flexibly lowered as needed and adapted to different usage scenarios.
The system also impresses with exceptional comfort after sunset. The integrated 75-watt SunSquare SQLED creates pleasant indirect lighting, bathing the terrace in a warm, atmospheric glow. This creates an inviting ambiance for long summer evenings with family and friends.
The system is controlled via a BUS system. It was hardwired and connected to the property's central wind sensor by the on-site electrician. Despite its integration into the building automation, the proven SunSquare safety standards apply without restriction: at wind speeds exceeding 40 km/h, the system closes automatically to reliably protect both the sail and the structure.
The result is a high-quality outdoor living space that perfectly combines comfort, design, and functionality. A place that feels like a holiday every day — made even better with SunSquare.
