Shaded courtyard for the ENNI Moers corporate headquarters
Three linked SunSquare sails provide shade for the courtyard at the ENNI headquarters in Moers, covering both the terrace and window areas.
Quality of stay in the ENNI headquarters courtyard
As part of the upgrade to the courtyard at the ENNI headquarters in Moers, a high-quality shading solution was implemented in 2023. Planning and execution were carried out by SunSquare sales partner Volker Weiss.
The project utilized a linked triple-unit system of SunSquare SQK-I radial sails. The three double-triangular units, each with approximately 34 m² of sail area, provide generous shade for the courtyard while adding a striking architectural element to the outdoor space.
The shading does more than just improve the atmosphere on the cafeteria terrace. The intelligent positioning of the sails also shades adjacent window areas. This reduces direct sunlight on the building facade, which can contribute to a more comfortable indoor climate, especially during the summer months.
The sails were crafted from high-quality Sattler 320 acrylic fabric in grey (color 937). The elegant color scheme blends harmoniously with the modern architecture of the company site and underscores the premium nature of the installation.
Innovative foundation solution without concrete
A special feature of this project was the combination of wall and ground mounting. Four of the required supports were anchored in the natural soil using screw foundations . This eliminated the need for complex concrete foundations.
This solution significantly reduced the impact on the existing outdoor area and allowed for an efficient and sustainable implementation. At the same time, the design ensures the high level of stability required for reliable, long-term shading systems.
Outdoor spaces as a key component of modern work environments
Attractive outdoor areas are becoming increasingly important for companies, public institutions, and municipalities. Shaded lounge areas encourage the use of open spaces, create pleasant retreats for breaks, and contribute to an overall higher quality of stay.
Furthermore, shading systems make a valuable contribution to climate adaptation in urban areas. They reduce direct sunlight on seating areas and facades, improve thermal comfort, and make outdoor spaces usable even on hot summer days.
The project at ENNI Moers is a prime example of how functional shading, architectural design, and sustainable outdoor space planning can be combined into a future-oriented, holistic solution.
