Restaurant terrace in Ascona
SunSquare Project on Lake Maggiore - Two sail systems with a total area of 110 m² provide shade for the restaurant terrace. Premium sun and rain protection.
Shade Architecture on Lake Maggiore
Another impressive SunSquare project has been realised by our partner Koller Tende in Ascona, on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
Located directly at a marina, this installation was built around an existing fixed tension system and features two striking SunSquare sails:
A SQK-II sail system with 75 m² of sail area pushes the limits—perfectly tensioned thanks to two compensators that effectively absorb wind movement, and equipped with a height adjuster on one sail corner.
Complementing this is a second, single-sided triangular sail (SQK solo) of approximately 35 m², designed as a batten sail.
Together with the fixed tension system, the two SunSquare sails cover nearly the entire restaurant terrace, providing extensive shade and protection. Even in rainy conditions, the terrace remains fully usable for guests—without the need for umbrellas or temporary solutions.
With views of the yacht harbor and set against the stunning backdrop of Ascona, this installation is a stylish example of bespoke textile architecture at its finest.
