Stylish sunshade with a view of the Golden Horn

On the first floor of the exclusive Rixos Tersane Istanbul, with a breathtaking view of the Golden Horn, SunSquare realizsed a remarkable sun protection project in collaboration with Tabanlıoğlu Architecture. The intense sunlight from the south and southwest called for a sophisticated solution that met the highest standards in both functionality and aesthetics.

After thorough coordination with the architectural team and the property owner, the decision was made to implement a refined combination of drop-arm awnings and FOLD & ROLL sail umbrellas. Four drop-arm awnings, each covering 28 m², were installed to elegantly shade the hotel’s glass façade. The awning fabrics were crafted from Soltis 92, known for its durability and solar performance.

Complementing the system are seven FOLD & ROLL sail umbrellas, each providing approximately 30 m² of shaded area. The sails, made from Sattler 314, emphasise the premium design and ensure long-lasting protection while maintaining a sleek, architectural look.

The planning process was shaped by close collaboration between Mag. Gerald Wurz and the team at Güzen Mimarlık, with special attention given to the design of the 5-meter-high space, influenced by Gerald’s creative input. The result is a fully automated, technically advanced shading system that integrates seamlessly into the building’s architecture — praised not only by the owner but also by numerous guests.
