A Highlight Above the Bosphorus – Sun Protection Meets Luxury Dining

On the 12th floor of the Swissôtel Istanbul, high above the Bosphorus, an impressive SunSquare installation was realized back in 2007: 12 sun sails covering a total of approximately 460 m² of fabric surface, equipped with the spring-tension system for effortless operation.

Thanks to fully automatic wind sensors, the sails close independently in strong winds—ensuring maximum safety.

This solution offers key advantages for the hospitality sector:
No umbrella handling, no manual operation, and service staff that can fully focus on guests—because the sails are easily controlled at the push of a button.

Implemented by our Turkish distribution partner, this project is a perfect fusion of functionality and design.

And it sparked inspiration: A restaurateur who witnessed this installation from his terrace in 2007 fulfilled his dream in 2025 with a stunning SunSquare project in Bodrum.
