Rooftop bar in Zurich

130 m² SunSquare sun sail at The Nest rooftop bar, Hotel Storchen Zurich – fire-resistant, fully automated, and elegantly designed for ultimate guest comfort.

Sun Sail Comfort Above the Rooftops of Zurich

High above Zurich’s historic old town, on the exclusive rooftop bar The Nest at Hotel Storchen, seven SunSquare systems provide stylish shade and reliable weather protection. The freestanding sails, made from fire-resistant Sattler Firemaster 324-023 fabric, cover areas ranging from 13 to 24 m² — offering a total of 130 m² of elegant, safe, and fully automated coverage.

The challenge: a shading solution that blends discreetly into the historic architecture, preserves the 360° panoramic view, and delivers maximum comfort for guests. Thanks to automatic controls, the sails respond independently to changing weather conditions—offering shade when the sun shines and retracting in strong winds. No manual intervention required — comfort at the push of a button.

A project that demonstrates how design, technology, and hospitality can come together at the highest level—right in the heart of Zurich.
